Director, Video Encoding Engineer

– Use industry standards and techniques to lead development of audio, video, caption and subtitle content for consumer platforms utilizing private and public cloud infrastructures. Formats include HLS, HDS, SmoothStreaming, MPEG-Dash.
– Lead the development of frameworks and processes to create a wide-variety of commercial media formats. Formats include JPEG2000, H.264, H.265, ProRes, ASO2, OP1A, Dolby, DTS, 601 and 701 Closed Captioning.
– Investigate new transcoding frameworks and technologies.
– Research and recommend encoding tools for new video profiles and devices.
– Stay informed on future compression technologies. Articulate the pros and cons of various video and audio codecs.
– Manage and supervise minimal departmental staff.
– Mentor and expand technical skills for minimal departmental staff.
– College degree in CS, EE, CE or equivalent experience is required.
– Candidate must have minimum 12 years in the video industry with 5 years experience in video encoding development or video software engineering.
– Must have strong background with industry-standard audio and video formats as well as audio and image processing.
– Must have strong background with audio and video transcoding process.
– Must have software development skills in programming and scripting languages.
– Knowledge and background of private and public cloud based audio and video file-based workflows.
– Must be self-motivated with the ability and desire to analyze problems and develop video solutions.
– The candidate must have excellent communications skills in order to be successful.
– Position requires after hours support and travel.
